Our community events are designed to inspire, spread literacy, and celebrate the talent in our West Central and Spokane community.
So you think you can drop the mic? Come hang out with other hams just like you at Sign Up to Sync, where you can learn the ins and outs of Spark Central's first Lip Sync Throwdown, convince someone to be the Tears to your Fears, and plot how you are going to win the best costume award.
First Saturday of the Month // 3 PM
GRADES 8-12 // Take your creative writing to the next level with support from other teen writers and published local authors. You bring the ideas and we’ll bring the snacks!
TUE. MAY 16 // 6:30 PM
AGES 2 - 5 // Put on your favorite pajamas and join us at for a special evening story time. Local authors will choose their favorite picture book to read aloud.
Thu. May 18 // 7 PM
Sharma Shields, author of the novel The Sasquatch Hunter’s Almanac, tells her story. Sip wine and be inspired!
TUE. MAY 23 // 7 PM
Hear anonymous stories written by Spokane residents and performed by actors from the Spokane Civic Theatre. This event kicks off the West Central Dial-A-Story Project, a collaborative community project designed to share real stories about the West Central neighborhood.
Join the ranks of Milli Vanilla, Ashley Simpson, Jimmy Fallon and countless of other people who can't sing but look awesome pretending to. Create a team, choose a song, then come drop the mic (and your ca$h) in Spark Central's first ruthlessly competitive and desperately serious Lip Sync Throwdown. Or just come for the show, some post-competition dancing, River City brew, and pizza.
SAT. JUNE 10 // 7 PM
Join Seattle performance poet Imani Sims and her workshop participants for an open mic night that challenges performers to put their most vulnerable and honest stories on stage.
