Short Poem Craft Session with Portland Poet Zachary Schomburg

Thursday, November 10 // 3-5 PM

Our conversation will focus on the success of implied narrative and lyric within a poem while keeping in mind ideas of restraint and concision in language, of letting go of the need to explain and contextualize ideas and images, in order for the short poem to accomplish a lot in a little space. Schomburg will offer a few prompts and exercises, and we'll briefly workshop the drafts that come from them. $30. Register online.

Zachary Schomburg is the author of a forthcoming novel, Mammother (Featherproof, 2017), and four books of poems including, most recently, The Book of Joshua (Black Ocean 2014). He is also an illustrator, and the publisher of an independent poetry press, Octopus Books. He still lives in Portland, OR.
