What's Food Got to Do With It?

For the second summer, we're hosting KERNEL (Kids Eating Right Nutrition & Exercise for Life) here at Spark Central during the Wednesday Night Market in Kendall Yards. The program, started by Catholic Charities Food For All, combines fun activities for kids with recipes and learning about health. The best part? Kids get a market voucher they can spend on fresh fruits and vegetables at the market!

This means our crew of volunteers has had a blast creating food superheroes (pictured above), practicing yoga moves, and doling out that sweet KERNEL Cash. This week, we made gourds and learned about the history of using food items as musical instruments, which led to some impromptu dancing sessions--great cardio!

If you're hoping to bring your kids, it's not too late! We'll be rolling along for the entire month of August. Just show up to Spark Central between 5:00-7:00 PM and tell us you're here for KERNEL. So far, over 150 kids have come to learn, play, and create with us and we're looking forward to meeting 150 more!
