After School Fiddle Program

  • Spark Central 1214 West Summit Parkway Spokane, WA, 99201 United States (map)

Grades 9-12 • Mondays 4:00-5:00 pm

This once a week program is a fun introduction to the world of traditional fiddle music for intermediate students. Students will learn tunes to play together, and about the histories of how people have brought their traditions with them as they’ve moved around the world. Local musician Sally Jablonsky will guide students to learn by ear and via tablature, bringing students into the living tradition of fiddling, focusing on the American style of Old Time. Old Time fiddling is a less improvisational and older fiddle style than bluegrass, and has roots in Europe, Africa, and the British Isles.

The class will run on Mondays from 4-5pm starting on March 2nd through April 6th. Students should be at an intermediate level and need to bring their own violin. This class is not recommended for beginners or first time players.

Space is limited. Register here to secure your spot!

This class is made possible thanks to donations from individuals like you! Suggested donation for this program is $60-120.
