SAT. JUNE 10 // 5 - 7 PM
No Guts, No Glory is a performance poetry workshop designed to empower students to put their most vulnerable and honest stories on stage.
Students will watch mentor text videos from poets like Danez Smith, Angel Nafis, and many more. Also, students will draft a new poem, receive peer feedback, edit their poem, and spend time practicing before the Open Mic night following the workshop.
Each student will leave with at least one piece of edited writing, best practices for performances, and the experience of performing their poetry in front of a live audience. Performance is June 10 @ 7 PM. The performance directly follows the workshop — we'll provide dinner!
Imani Sims is a spicy Chai tea loving Seattle native who spun her first performance poem at the age of fourteen. She believes in the healing power of words and the transformational nuance of the human story. Imani works to empower youth and adults through various writing courses and interdisciplinary shows all over the nation. Her book (A)live Heart is available on Sibling Rivalry Press.
