Pi{e} Day

THUR MAR 14 · 5 - 7 PM

A wild celebration of the most irrational of numbers: Pi.

HUH?
The number "pi" — or 3.14 — rose to fame for being the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter. Geometry aside, there's a certain mystical allure to the number: Its digits carry on into infinity — "irrational" in math terms. In other words, it's simply unfathomable.

OH. UH, SO...
So we're having a party! There will math activities involving Pi. There will be a cutthroat recitation war, where people try to name as many digits of the number they can store in their brains. And to top it all off, we'll be having a Pie Contest (the kind you eat!) so we encourage people to bring in their best homemade pies — sweet, savory, and everywhere in between!

No cost // everyone welcome.

---

TO ENTER THE PIE-MAKING CONTEST:
Make a pie. Arrive by 5:30 to enter into the contest at no charge. May the best pie win!

TO ENTER THE PI RECITATION CONTEST:
Memorize as many digits of the number pi as possible. Arrive at 6:00 to sign up. Get on stage and recite them. If you know the most numbers by heart, you win our hearts (and also a prize)!

TO PARTICIPATE WITHOUT ENTERING ANY CONTESTS:
Come to the event. Eat pie. Encourage reciters. Show off your math skills. Stoically observe the madness unfolding in your midst.
