Spark Open Studio: 6-Week Art Class for Artists with Disabilities
Dates: January 5 – February 15, 2026
Schedule: Mondays, 2:00–4:00 PM | Spark Central
In preparation for the exhibition, Spark Central will offer a 6-week facilitated Open Studio Art Class for artists with disabilities. Guided by teaching artist Missy Narrance, this class provides a flexible and supportive environment where participants explore the Chase Gallery exhibition theme, Personal Landscapes, through mixed-media artworks centered on identity, adversity, resilience, and growth. Designed with accessibility at the center, the Open Studio structure allows artists with varying needs and schedules to participate meaningfully. All art materials are provided.
ABOUT THE FACILITATOR:
MISSY NARRANCE
Missy began drawing portraits as a child, learning the grid method from her grandfather. After stepping away from art in high school, she later rediscovered her practice while navigating significant health challenges that made traditional work difficult. Embracing the experimental and intuitive process of being a self-taught artist, she now works across acrylic, watercolor, scratchboard, pen, digital media, and mixed-media techniques.
Missy brings both technical skill and deep empathy to her teaching. She envisions Spark’s Open Studio as a place where artists of all abilities can explore personal themes, experiment with materials, and receive individualized support in bringing their creative ideas to life. A significant part of her studio practice includes commissioned pet portraits—work she finds deeply meaningful and rewarding.
