S.T.A.R. LEAD TEACHER
A STAR (Storytelling, Teaching Artists, Arts Integration, and Resilience) Lead Teacher is a key part of Spark Central’s after-school programs, led by the Education and Community Engagement Manager (ECE), who will work to create a supportive culture of creativity and a supportive, creative learning environment that fosters healthy, sustainable engagement among students, volunteers and guest Teaching Artists.
Lead Teachers in our STAR after-school program will foster a sense of community among elementary school participants by promoting a safe and consistent learning environment that encourages learning, growth, and exploration through social-emotional learning strategies. Lead Teachers will be responsible for setting expectations through classroom management and daily routines, following both school and Spark Central procedures, and fostering a strong culture within the group.
The Lead Teacher will create continuity and consistency in the classroom as they are joined by rotating Teaching Artists who will bring their disciplinary area of expertise to STAR. Lead Teachers will prepare the students by building enthusiasm and setting clear expectations for classroom structure. They will draw connections between different art disciplines and explain to students how these skills build on one another toward larger projects and celebrations.
Hours: Part-time, 13-hours per week, for 8 months (October 7, 2025 through June 4, 2026). Must be available Tuesday through Friday, 2:30pm to 5:30pm.
Compensation: This is a contract position, paid $1,040 monthly.
