SAT FEB 23 & MAR 2 · 10 AM - 12 PM
Ages 10 to Teens · Practice writing your own music and lyrics during this two day program with Andy Rumsey, Music Education Specialist for Spokane Public Library. Sign up online.
On Day One of this playshop, we’ll cover basic music vocabulary and introductory elements of writing music for a song. Kids can practice using the language of music to discuss music with their peers and explore collaboration. From verses to bridges, children of all musical experience levels can learn how to apply concepts to the instruments of their choice.
Day Two, we’ll discuss the benefits of writing and strategies for writing lyrics for music. Whether short- or long-form, pop or soul, students can build confidence in their approach and communication through music. Music is a language we can all connect to, and collaboration is encouraged!
This program is free thanks to community support & presented in partnership with Spokane Public Library.
