DR. NICHOLE BOGAROSH

Nichole Bogarosh is an associate professor of Communication Studies at Whitworth University. She teaches a wide variety of communication courses at Whitworth, though her emphasis is in critical cultural media studies. She is the former director of the University's Women's & Gender Studies Program, current director of the Communication & Culture Minor, member of the Diversity Cabinet, and advisor for the student-run public relations agency, Beyond the Pines, which works with local nonprofit clients, like Spark, on strategic communication projects. Her research work focuses on the representation of marginalized groups in media, particularly in popular culture, and issues related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
In addition to her volunteer work with Spark, Nichole serves on the Board of the Northwest Alliance for Media Literacy and is an active volunteer in many film festivals, such the local Spokane International Film Festival and the Bentonville Film Festival, hosted by the Gena Davis Insititute on Gender in Media every summer since 2014.
