DAY IN THE LIFE

A short play By EMRIE, HARLOW, JONELL, JiuLEONNA, MAEVE, ZELDA, AND VICTORIA (Holmes, GRADES 3-5)

Setting: At home and school.

Characters: Kindergartner Emrie, Kindergartener Victoria, Teacher Harlow, Teacher Jiuleonna, Teacher Jonell; additional actors to play children in class

Scene 1: Home

Kindergartner Emrie: (Playing on the floor with toys)
Teacher Harlow: Come on Emrie time for school! Get out to the car or we’re going to be late!
Kindergartner Emrie: NO, NO, NOO!
Teacher Harlow: Come on I have your little sister loaded up. First, I will drop off your sister with the pre-k teacher. 
Kindergartner Emrie: Waaaaa!! (As she walks off stage with Harlow)

Scene 2: At School

Teacher Harlow: Okay class, listen up! We must get on schedule!
Teacher Jiulieonna: Breakfast time first! 
Kindergartner Emrie: NO, NO! (During breakfast Kindergartner Emrie runs around the class and pulls off 5 rings from a calendar chain.)
Kindergartner Victoria: (Starts running around class.)
Teacher Jonell: Get back here naughty children! (Chases Kindergartners Victoria and Emrie around the class.)
Kindergartners Victoria & Emrie: He he he! Come get us! 
Teacher Harlow: (Bends down to loudly whisper to the girls.) Settle down or you will not earn time at the teachers' lounge today! 
Kindergartners Victoria & Emrie: (Girls both sit down.)
Teacher Harlow: Good job girls!
Kindergartner Victoria: I am going to run away again!
Teacher Jonell: Noo!
Kindergartner Victoria: Just kidding. 

Scene 3: At School

Teacher Jiuleonna: We will begin our class today with our morning meeting, and watch the end of year announcements, but first, the pledge of allegiance. 
Children & teachers: We pledge allegiance to the flag of the united states of america and to the republic for which it stands…
Kindergartner Emrie: (Emrie begins running around the class again.)
Teacher Jonell: Time for a talk Emrie
Kindergartner Emrie: Hehehe!
Teacher Jonell: Are we having a hard time today? How about we take a wiggle break before we get back to the task and let’s keep our hands to self.
Teacher Jonell & Kindergartner Emrie: (Begin to do silly wiggles.)
Kindergartner Emrie: (Runs away towards teacher snacks.) I get all the teacher snacks!
Kindergartner Victoria: Get me some too!
Teacher Jiuleonna: Don’t touch our snacks! Teachers are people too. How about we all have snack time? You have your goldfish snacks, and the teachers have their teacher snacks. 

Scene 4: End of Day

Teacher Harlow: Okay, time to focus. Let’s do a small quiz on our lesson yesterday. You will need to answer 10 questions as a class. Teacher Jiuleonna will be asking the questions!
Children: (Sit sadly) Aww. Okay. 
Children: (Mimic taking a test.)
All: The play ends in the class at an end of year class party. Kids run around and play! Teachers sit, relaxing, drinking their coffee.
