Each storyteller (and illustrator) will end the camp with their own copy of the collective adventure book, which will also be featured in Spark Central's library as well as in three real little libraries designed by local artists. GRADES 4 - 6 · Create a short documentary crewed by kids and guided by filmmakers from Rogue Heart Media. You'll learn about the steps and roles involved in video production, and get hands-on with the tools and techniques of visual storytelling. On the last day, parents will be invited to view all the documentaries on our big screen.

GRADES 3 - 6 · Team up with friends to build and program a LEGO robot. Campers will build with both WeDo 2.0 and LEGO Mindstorms kits. In the process of building, students learn basic programming and collaboration.

Using instruments and beats from Garageband, you will work together with mentors and peers to produce a 60 minute mixtape: a medley of beats, instruments, and lyrics created by you! Once completed, you will have a digital and physical copy of your mixtape, and a custom cassette case made by you!

GRADES 3 - 8 · Create comics based on a myth or legend of your choosing! Know and celebrate characters based on yourself, the challenges you face, and the things/people that help you along the way. At the end of this project, your creation will be a part of a comics anthology. As a bonus challenge, you can animate part of your story by using digital art, a flipbook, or claymation? See what you can come up with in a supportive environment of myth makers and creators!

GRADES 4-6 · Join us for a dive into the unsung histories and stories of Black, Indigenous, and communities of color that have too long been overlooked in our history books and in our shared cultural conversations. Youth will participate in a digital quest to discover for themselves the stories and triumphs of modern and historical figures. Then, they will take charge and retell the histories in their own words by creating written or visual art that represents the stories they would like to share. Kids will practice their hand at storytelling and be emboldened to see themselves as young ambassadors and future leaders in our community.

Girls Rock Lab online camp will provide workshops in rock music history, songwriting, and at-home instrument making. Three-Day Workshop · Tue Mar 24 – The Mar 26 · 7 – 9:30 pm

Ages 12 – 105 · Learn the art of running tabletop fantasy role-playing games with the experts at RPG Research during this three-day camp. Using the free bfRPG system, you’ll learn key skills to make sure that every player at your table has a fun, rewarding experience and to encourage creativity and cooperation. This three-day camp will culminate in a special session of Drop in & RPG where you’ll get the chance to put the skills you learn to the test!

Teens, parents, seniors, role-playing game enthusiasts, and folks who have never before run a tabletop role-playing game are all encouraged to attend.
